Daniel Strain
DT Strain is an artist, writer, and Multimedia Director for the Stoic Council. Daniel was born in Texas City, Texas, where he was raised by Christian parents. At age 19 he moved to Huntsville, Texas, to attend Sam Houston State University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. After graduation, he moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for Southwestern Bell (which later became AT&T), creating advertising designs and other artwork for telephone directories. In 1995, after several years of careful thought, Daniel became an atheist. He next set upon developing his beliefs, which paralleled Humanism, and was pleased to discover that philosophy. He became very active in local Humanist organizations, founding one in Houston: Houstonians for Secular Humanism (HSH).

In 2001, Daniel was married and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. There he was a freelance artist for gaming companies and a graphic artist for a flooring distributor where he was eventually promoted to Marketing Director. While in California, Strain became interested in ancient Western philosophy and found his way to Stoicism.

In 2005, Daniel and his wife moved back to Houston to be nearer friends and family and began working as Director of Marketing for Medical Benevolence Foundation, an international non-profit organization. In 2007, Daniel's mother died and he became aware of how profoundly his studies and practices of Stoicism had helped him, and he became a member of the Stoic community at New Stoa. DT Strain continues to study and practices Stoicism and writes for The Humanists.
