Jesse Caban
Jesse hails from Chicago, where he grew up witnessing poverty, violence, drug use, and gangs. What Jesse had in his favor, was love and very religious grandparents. When his mother, whose job paid very little, took out a large loan to send her sons to private high school he noticed that these kids expected to go to college and fought for the highest grades. Like Stoicism, what you think of your situation, will reflect what actions and deeds you produce. Like Stoicism, he saw how good people are good people regardless of the color of their skin and life circumstances.

Jesse is a Sergeant in the Sheriff's Department, where he has battled with the disorderly, ran to emergency calls, made warrant arrests, written countless reports, shot a pit-bull, yelled at other departments over bad warrants still in the system, taken prisoners to hospitals, executed court order put-outs, calmed domestic situations, taken children away from a parent because of a court order, and lost co-workers to suicide. Stoicism, Jesse says, has been a tool he has used to keep centered through all these events.

Jesse is a member of the Stoic Council's Epictetus Club Liaison that works with establishing Stoic reading and discussion clubs in jails and prisons. He has many hobbies, which include: spending time with his sons, good food, better whiskey, driving his American Muscle car, art, jazz, rock, folk Latin music, playing congas, history, going to the shooting range, spending time with good friends, lifting heavy weights, movies, reading, exploring other thoughts and religions, taking his beloved out for dinner, gaming, watching the stars, spiritual people, conversations with odd people, and extending his hand to everyone.
