New members of the Stoic community often express an interest in meeting and talking with other members. Fortunately, we have a considerable variety of discussion groups from which to choose. Click on the title of the group to go there.
- International Stoic Forum

- Founded by Erik Wiegardt in 1996, the International Stoic Forum is the oldest and certainly one of the best and most active Stoic discussion groups on the Internet. Shortly after founding, Erik turned the Forum over to Dr. Jan Garrett who enlisted Dr. Keith Seddon to assist him in moderating these discussions. This group is especially valuable for those who appreciate the challenge of intellectual disputation.
- Facebook New Stoa & Registry
- Two open groups, currently with a combined total of 104 members, affiliated with the New Stoa community, and moderated by Stoic Council member, Tristan Desnos. These are both active social interaction groups that are more oriented to friendships than to disputation, and have all the advantages of the Facebook features, such as sharing photos and other personal background information.
- Stoici Amici (Stoic Friends)
- A French language discussion group founded by Elen Buzare in 2002 to encourage discussion among French-speaking people similar to the Stoic International Forum. The name of the group, Stoici Amici, was inspired by the Brutus letters that always began, “Stoici amici.” There are currently 46 members, mostly French, but also with some French Canadian participants.
- College of Stoic Philosophers
- A new Facebook discussion group designed for current students, faculty, and alumni of the College.
- Facebook Stoicism Group
- An open discussion group with many members, but without a moderator or other affiliation. The creator of this group left some time ago and cannot be found. It appears that most of the members of this group have followed the creator's example and left. Postings are occasional and few.
